SURGE OF INTEREST IN THE ST AYLES SKIFF REGATTA AT FRANKLIN IN FEBRUARY Organisers of the St Ayles Skiff Regatta to be held from Friday February 13th to Sunday February 15th now have 160 rowers registered for the 30 races to be held over the 3 days. Of those 160 there are currently 31 who are new to the experience of rowing a St Ayles Skiff. Rowers are coming from New Zealand, Scotland, Victoria and South Australia. To showcase the town of Franklin to our overseas and interstate visitors, as well as for local enjoyment, a series of events has been planned which include a free concert for the Opening Ceremony at the Palais Theatre on Thursday 12th; a Solar Light Parade on Saturday evening; and the Closing Ceremony on Sunday will be packed with entertainment. If your business, community organisation, or group of friends want to row in the Corporate and Community race planned for Saturday contact Shane on 0408 363 196. Shane is expecting at least 30 entries, which will create a lot of friendly rivalry and fun between the teams. Your team can have some pre-race practice in the Imagine Skiff if you get in early! Registrations for the Open and aged based races close on February 1st. Most race categories are nearly full, but there are still plenty of places in the Youth event for those over 15 and below 21 years, and the Over 70’s event. If you wish to enter a team contact the organisers at the Living Boat Trust, www.tassskiffie.2015.org or phone 03 6266 3224. |
