The Thursday On the Water Program students made their way upstream into a steady north wind for lunch near the top of North Egg Island.  There was the anticipation of a tail wind and a dip in the river to encourage everybody back into the boats after food had been consumed, but not a bit of it.  A very fresh sea breeze came in 'on the nose' and had them battling for every metre gained, and when there were really lively squalls there was nothing for it but to head for the shore and hang on.  Eventually most crews had to concede and accept a tow back, just in time for the bus.
