John Walduck has sent this reprise to a previous story posted by Barbara Dawson: 'Some time ago you circulated a photo of a "Cartela" look-alike at the
Maritime Village at Flagstaff Hill in Warnambool, Victoria. I have been there today and enclose 2 photos of the vessel. She is the "Rowitta", and was registered in Launceston at some stage of her career (see photo 2). She does bear a resemblance to "Cartela", especially her paint scheme,
but is a smaller vessel and goes not have the canoe stern. She is in a terrible state of repair - I suspect she is sitting on the
bottom of the pond in the photos as I doubt that she could remain
afloat. I hope that the "Cartela" is never allowed to deteriorate to the state.
We should support all efforts to restore her to her former glory.' |
