Visiting Wooden Boat Central

Brett Doubleday is currently travelling in the USA.  He writes:

'We have just arrived at Brooklin Inn in Maine - wooden boat capital of US, and where Wooden Boat magazine comes from, as well as the Wooden Boat school. Think of Franklin on steroids. Within a few miles of here there are 12 boat yards building/maintaining/repairing wooden boats.  The boat school had 850 students over summer doing 1 or 2 week courses on various subjects. Have taken photos of how our workshop could be (on a slightly smaller scale). Pretty fantastic to see.'

850 students at the boat school!!  Struth.  We notice that on the Google map of the area (see below) Off Centre Harbour is listed as a 'place of worship'.  Hmmm - they take their wooden boats even more seriously than we do.
