From Patrick Groot.....

Following on from Franklin's St Ayles Skiff Regatta in February 2017, is the Victorian 'triple whammy' on 4-5 March 2017 at Warrnambool......

-  Victorian St Ayles Skiff Championships
-  Australian Whaleboat Championships
-  South West Wooden Boat Exhibition.
The Expressions of Interest flyer is attached, and will be followed up with the official flyer to be put together by Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum, but the weekend is definitely on. It promises to be a brilliant 2 days with what we have planned boating wise and what the owner of Proudfoots Boathouse has in store regarding catering and entertainment.
The status of skiffs in Victoria is that 2 are launched: 'Cariad' by Rev' Jim Barr and the Melbourne Welsh Church and 'Fast Messenger' by the Warrnambool Skiff Club. Two skiffs are in build: 1 here at Warrnambool by the Warrnambool Skiff Club and another at Marlow by David Craigie and his group. Several other groups including Williamstown Women on Water and the Geelong-based groups remain in their fund raising or project development phase.
'Cariad' and 'Fast Messenger' are definites for the Championships and an invitation has been extended to David Craigie to bring their yet to be named skiff. There is also a chance that Warrnambool's second skiff will be launched and race ready for this March weekend. Of course should neither the Marlow skiff or the second Warrnambool skiff materialise we could throw ourselves yet again on the mercy of Robert Ayliffe and the 'John Liddy'.
If you have any queries please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Kind Regards,
