Underwater Logging Operations – Lake Pieman/Reece Dam

Notice Content:

Mariners are advised underwater logging operations in Lake Pieman/Reece Dam
will be undertaken from November 2015 for approximately two years. 

An exclusion zone will be clearly defined around the operation with signage and
yellow buoys deployed at the edge of the active harvesting area. 

Recreational boat users can pass through the area after making contact with the
barge operator through marine radio or by hand signals. Instructions stating
the marine channel to use and other restrictions will be posted on signs. 

The harvest barge will display Restricted in Ability to Manoeuvre signals. If
the barge is not operating then vessels may proceed through the area with
caution. 

There may be some debris in the vicinity of the barge, so caution needs to be
exercised by the skipper. 

A maximum speed of 5 knots through the operational area is required.
