From Barb Dawson:

Several regular rowers have agreed that it would be a great idea to start weekly twilight rowing races - from Friday 2 February (until daylight saving ends).  The idea is to provide the opportunity for anyone (male or female) who wants to improve their rowing fitness to take part in rowing races, to have some fun on the river and to socialise (drinks, nibbles, BBQ?) afterwards.

Racing will be conducted on a handicap basis, so everyone will be finishing around the same time.

Any type of rowing/paddling boat can take part – skiffs, Grebes, whaleboats, private dinghies, kayaks  - and approximate rowing time for the race would be 45 – 60 mins.

Rowers register on Friday afternoon to form a crew (skiff, Swiftsure, Monty, grebe), on a first in, first served basis.  You can row alone (as per Roger Haryood), or together with others e.g. grebe, skiff.

Registration must be completed by 5pm

5.30 – races start

6.30 (approx) – races finish

6.30 – social drinks, nibbles (BBQ)

Note – we will be learning as we go, what works best, what people want….etc. The aim is to Keep It Simple and Have Fun!!!
