The oracles have spoken, and this is what they said. 'The lockdown in Southern Tasmania will end at 6pm today (Monday 18 October) but some restrictions will remain until 6pm Friday 22 October. People will no longer have to stay home but face masks must still be worn outside the home by everyone aged 12 years and older in the declared local government areas – see the list and map. Masks must also be worn if visiting someone else’s home unless you are in a signification relationship with the person you are visiting. Some exemptions to face mask wearing will continue to apply including primary school students (12 year old primary schools students do not have to wear a face mask in school but must wear one elsewhere). Teachers in primary and secondary schools and secondary students will be required to wear face masks during this time. See face masks exemptions for more details. Aged care and hospitals restrictions will remain in place until 6pm Friday 22 October – see aged care and hospitals for more details. Travel restrictions within Tasmanian no longer apply but anyone who enters or exits Southern Tasmania up to 6pm Friday 22 October will need to continue to follow the mask wearing requirements – this includes when you leave the Southern Tasmania area. Read more about Travel within Tasmania. Approved travellers from high-risk areas will again be able to arrive in Southern Tasmania after 6pm today but will need to follow all restrictions. From 6pm tonight, the household gathering limit will return to pre-lockdown restrictions of up to 100 people. See gatherings restrictions for more details. If you have any cold or flu symptoms – no matter how mild – call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to book a COVID-19 test. You can also register online at testing. If you don’t have any symptoms, you should get vaccinated. Most community clinics are now accepting walk-ins and you don’t need an appointment.
