The LBT Franklin St Ayles Skiff Regatta and Open Day Sun 14 Feb

'On Sunday February 14 we are opening are doors for all to sample and enjoy. There is something for everyone in the Open Day – a St Ayles Skiff Regatta begins at 9am for Women’s, Men’s and Mixed crews. 

From 11.30 there is an international-themed event with “join or form a team from your birthplace or background” (there is already a British team) followed by a similar “State of Origin” one kilometre race. Will Tasmania take the lead, given that community rowing of St Ayles Skiffs began in Franklin in 2012? The 250m final sprint should be a real spectator highlight. 

From 1pm there are opportunities to “Come and Try” rowing or sailing for all the family. There will be family-orientated foreshore activities with parachute games for children, novelty races, refreshments and music.'  


PLANNED PROGRAM 

Start times may change, crews to be ready 15 mins before. 
  • 9.00 Open Women 1km; 

  • 9.15 Open Men 1km; 

  • 9.30 Open Mixed 1km; 

  • 10.00 Open Women 2km;

  • 10.30 Open Men 2km; 

  • 11.00 Open Mixed 2km; 

  • 11.30 State of Origin 1km (Form a mixed team of birthplace or significant background) Tasmania, Victoria, NSW, Queensland, S.A., W.A., Other; 

  • 12.00 Continent of Origin 1km (Form a mixed team of birthplace or significant background) Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Other; 

  • 12.30 250m dash all skiffs; 

  • 1pm
    • SAUSAGE SIZZLE "COME AND TRY" - SAIL OR ROW - OPEN TO ALL, FAMILY FUN;

    • Land - parachute games, tug of war, snakes and ladders & more; 

    • Water- Skiffs, Whaleboats, Grebes, community races, Nancy Tours;

  • 3 to 5pm
    • Presentations, Snacks & Entertainment.
