The Great River Race

Barb Dawson draws attention to this race on the Thames - see .  Maybe we need to enter a crew sometime in the future if we can organise borrowing a boat: it looks like fun! 

'The Great River Race is an annual competition held on London's River Thames. Any traditional-style coxed boat propelled by oars or paddles can take part. The competition was started in 1988 and covers 21 miles.'
