Why you should come sailing

From John Young

Now that the days are getting longer as we move into Spring, it's time to teach LBT members how to sail the boats we are fortunate enough to have inherited from the past and which have been meticulously maintained by the Tuesday men.

The six grebes were designed by the internationally famous Iain Oughtred, and built in the past by groups of local school children, and students and teachers of the Shipwrights Point School of wooden Boat building, Using only the best Tasmanian Timbers. But they are under-utilised. The more people we can teach to sail, the more they will be cared for by our dedicated and experienced team of men and women who maintain, repair and service the fleet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We also have a team of experienced sailors who will have the opportunity to pass on their skill and knowledge to the next generation, thus fulfilling a constitutional purpose of the Living Boat Trust.
