No, this isn't the latest bird sighting, but an upcoming tribute to Amy Sherman in Huonville

Friends of the Theatre Royal

As a child, the musically gifted Amy Sherwin, the ‘Tasmanian Nightingale’, starred in many productions including the pantomime Puss in Boots, presented in the barn at Inlet Farm which served as the Huon District Hall in the 1800s.
She went on to a very successful career as an opera singer, firstly starring in her home State and then travelling to sing in New Zealand, Europe and the United States of America to high acclaim. She made visits back to sing in Australia and she always included Tasmania which she called home.

Amongst events to celebrate her life, a documentary of Amy’s life will be shown, this was made during the ‘70s and a couple of the original stars will be in attendance who will chat about the making of the film. Another guest will talk about her life and career.

The afternoon will culminate in afternoon tea.
