The annual Swiftsure Regatta starts at 9.30am this Sunday with the Roger Harwood Trophy for long distance rowing in traditional clinker dinghies. At 10.30, the St Ayles Skiff 1km pursuit is open to all – come with your own crew (Dover is rumoured to have a quality mixed side) or turn-up and join a team on the day. There are races for women, men and mixed crews and new or experienced rowers are welcome. Awards go to the best-dressed side and to the crew with the quickest time. With Swiftsure coming out of the shed after a recent polish and paint and with new thole pins to test, there will be whaleboat time trials throughout the day. An afternoon BBQ precedes the sailing program. Join in the rowing and sailing “Swiftsure Regatta” to help celebrate the LBT, the boats, the people and Franklin.
