"Starting at 9:30 with the Roger Harwood Classic Clinker Dinghy Race, can anyone beat John Young in this 3km single rower race? Anyone can enter, bring your own dinghy or use one of the LBT's super fast grebes. The rowing continues with the traditional Swiftsure Race, a timed trial around Egg Island. Form a team on the day or gain an advantage by training in advance. We would not have a regatta without the skiffs, Cygnet and Taroona are joining us. Jane Johnson has organised races for new, experienced and competitive rowers. ( rowers in the skiff must be 15 years and over, coxswains 16 years and over). Sailors are not forgotten, the Rat Island Race is on again! Use your own boat or an LBT vessel. The jar of jelly beans is a highly fought for prize. Ros will be busy in the kitchen, producing food to keep up the energy for the sailing, rowing and cheering!
Swiftsure has always been about people of all ages: there will be races for kids.
Always a great day, come on down!"
As if that isn't enough, the feature lunchtime activity will be the LAUNCH OF THE BITTERN, the latest St Ayles Skiff. Judging by her fire engine red livery she will be the fastest boat on the river.
ps We need a couple of people to run the safety boat: please contact Lorrie Harrison firstname.lastname@example.org
