'Yes, it’s that time of year again. One of the opportunities to engage in a bit of not too serious rowing racing and fun on the water.
Once again the
format has changed; it seems to happen every year. The school races
will be held in the morning with a whole series of races and
activities, then a lunch break and the big kids get to play. David
Budd is organising the morning and Karen Corbin and a team of WOW
ladies are organising the afternoon with a little help from me.
At this point we
are advising you to think about forming skiff teams to participate.
Because we have only a few hours to cram in the skiff races plus
other events such as Swiftsure and Big Boats challenge, Fun races and
of course the Rat Race [“anything that floats” races around Rat
Island] we need to limit the teams to only mixed crews. That means
that we have to make a rule of a MAXIMUM of 2 men per team to make it
fair. Since there are more women than men rowing, the men will be
much in demand, lucky us!?
A week before the
Regatta we need to know how many teams there are to make up a
schedule of races. We are hoping that Cygnet and Taroona will bring
their skiffs and teams but teams can be formed by anyone interested
in rowing a skiff, even if they have not done so before. It is very
much a fun Regatta.
We also need
volunteers to do all the other jobs associated with running a
Regatta; Marshals to call and direct crews, timekeepers for the
races, safety boat crew, servers of food and drink and pre Regatta
Do contact myself, Karen Corbin or Richard Forster the LBT secretary (email@example.com) if you have any questions or ideas to discuss;
