Stories from the sea

In a previous post we asked what we should be doing whilst we are all holed up.  One answer is to tell stories, and John Snowdon has set the ball rolling by contributing one.   John writes:

'[this] story is rather fanciful. It is a true account of a storm at sea on a passage from New Cal. to Coffs Harbour in 2018. We actually had 5 onboard, although the skipper was incapacitated due to a medical condition. But I took some liberties and wrote from the 2nd person POV, which made it difficult to introduce anyone else… except the flying squid.'
