Brian Marriot points us to this notice he has placed in the Marine Directory (http://marinedirectory.net/events/steam-boats-on-the-huon/):
'The Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania is planning a special boating day: Four (!!!) steamboats on the Huon River. This rare event is unlikely to be repeated until “Cartela” is steaming again. Steam boats that have indicated their involvement are “Lady Lavinia” and “Luxor” (both of which are based in Franklin, “Leprena” (soon to be based in Franklin) and “Lady Lyn” (from Hobart). Other steam boats are, of course especially welcome. But you have to ask permission if the name doesn’t start with “L”. The boats will steam from Franklin to Huonville and return, in company with “Nancy” (electric powered). It looks likely that we’ll be joined by lots of other wooden boats, including the whaleboat “Swiftsure” and some of the LBT rowing skiffs. Why not bring your own wooden boat along and join us? Some berths will be available on “Nancy”. See http://mv-nancy-tours.org/ for details. Concessions will be available for Guild and LBT members. We’re starting early to be able to steam upriver in a relatively slack tide. After an early lunch, we’ll return to Franklin.'
