The Living Boat Trust is always a welcome sight when one arrives in Franklin:  its shed a hive of activity, its lawn artistically dotted with boats.  On Tuesday it was suddenly enhanced by a mushrooming of tents, the pulse of middle eastern music,  a crackling campfire, and good smells eminating from the kitchen.  Robert Ayliffe has brought a group of asylum seekers across from South Australia for the St Ayles Skiff Championships, and they have settled in with amazing rapidity.  The plan is that  they will be with us  for a couple of days of practise, decamp to Hobart for the Festival,  then return with the Homecoming Passage boats for the championships.
