An email from Peter Doyle is a reminder that this event in mid March (12th-14th) is really the first St Ayles Skiff Regatta to be held on the Big Island, and should be a goodie: he's

'thrilled to report that, so far, we have seven Skiffs coming - including John Longley's two from Perth! I've managed to "book" the pontoon right in front of the RGYC club house where we'll raft the skiffs side-by-side.  It'll look fabulous!'

See www.woodenboatfestival.yachting.org.au for festival details.  We are attempting to get 'Billie'  across Bass Strait to participate. There is already a core crew going to represent the Small Island and it would be great to have more involved:  we are still the centre of the Skiff universe in the southern hemisphere.  It should be a lot of fun.  Contact the secretary (sec@lbt.org.au), or Lorrie Harrison (w.lharrison@bigpond.com.au) to find out more.

The picture below is from the rowing event held to celebrate the recent launch of 'FAST Messenger' at Warrnambool, and yes, the boat in the foreground is a whaleboat not a skiff.
