'Thanks for your email & interest in our skiffs.
We are in the early planning stages of the launching celebrations
other than to say the skiff builders have committed to completing them
ready for launching on the 26th April in a location known as
Colour Patch which is at the mouth
of the Blackwood River in Augusta (hard to miss) – it’ll probably be
mid to late morning & is the Sunday of the Anzac Day long weekend. –
We’ll keep you update with proceedings.
It’s amazing how this boat building exercise has developed broad
community interest reaching far & wide – we run a visitors book at
the shed & other than the 30 odd boat building coming & going,
we’ve had some 200 plus visitors.
The attached photo was taken a week ago – we’ve substituted a lot
of the supplied ‘Hoop Pine’ with reclaimed Oregon and introduced local
timbers for thwarts etc - sheoak in particular.
I’m not a Face Book person but there is one running if you are so
inclined - Augusta Community Rowing that others are regularly posting
‘stuff’.
