Shutdown of organised events at the LBT

In the LBT Coronavirus policy previously announced we said that ‘advice and circumstances are rapidly changing, … all decisions may only apply for a short period of time’ and ‘that we have access to very good advice from health professionals’ . In the event circumstances HAVE changed and the committee has accepted the advice of these professionals to close the LBT Shed and facilities to organised, formal activities. That includes Monday dinners, Tuesday and Thursday work groups, rowing and sailing. Individual members should still be able to enter as they see fit while observing health directions. If you unsure as to what these are see https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert#how-to-protect-yourself-and-others.

This decision has been precipitated by a number of considerations:

  • it is in line with government directives;

  • as a responsible community organisation it is up to the LBT to set an example;

  • it would seem inevitable that things will get worse before they get better, and the sooner we prepare the less impact this pandemic will have in the long term and the sooner we will all be back having fun.
