Renewable Energy and You 


2-4pm Sunday 1 October - Palais Theatre, Franklin 

Renewable energy information sessions, hosted by the Tasmanian Greens, will feature talks by energy experts about how you can reduce your power bill and make a positive contribution to the environment. The experts will also be available to answer questions. 

This free event will feature the following talks:

  • Rooftop Solar  
    Jack Gilding, Tasmanian Renewable Energy Alliance 
    How can rooftop solar work for you? Jack will take you through the best solar system size, tariff options and making the most of the feed-in tariff. 

  • Battery Storage 
    Dr Evan Franklin, Engineering UTAS 
    Is home battery storage the right way to go for your energy usage and site? Dr Franklin will outline the basics of battery storage, the systems available, and what to consider before investing. 

  • Energy Efficiency
    Rebecca Boyle and Todd Houstein, Sustainable Living Tasmania 
    How to save money and stay warm. Advice on how to reduce your power bill and increase your comfort, with simple changes you can make around your home. 

  • Electric Vehicles 
    Clive Attwater, Electric Vehicle Association 
    The shift to full electric cars, trucks, buses and bikes is rapidly approaching. Clive will explain the current costs and practicalities of electric vehicles – powered by electricity you can produce yourself at home. You can also check out his electric car.
