Dick Geeves has organised a flagpole for us, and he writes:

'I have been able to do some research with the help of Scouting Tasmania's Heritage Museum about the flagpole.  We unearthed a picture of the Huon Chief with a caption underneath: "The Parade Ground Flagstaff: A Mast of the Huon Chief".  The mast was originally longer, but when they erected it at 'the Lea' they buried it in the ground and about six foot disintegrated and thus it became a lot shorter'.
