On the Water Program: a big thank you

The crews have rowed off into the sunset and the program has ended for another year.  On behalf of the LBT committee and membership this column wishes to say thanks to all who helped to make it such a success.  From getting oars made through to final cleanup there was a lot of time and effort expended, but it has certainly been worth it with very positive reports coming back from the schools.  Students who were almost too scared to step aboard at the start of the program were confidently getting the boats organised, out of the shed,  and moored up ready for expeditions by the end of it.  Our record warm November didn't do any harm.  The farmers, firefighters and gardeners may have been dubious about it, but the kids knew exactly what to do: they were in the water as much as on it, and that was a large part of the fun and building that confidence.  With our fleet of boats and our location, not to mention our people,  the LBT is in a unique position for conducting activities such as this.  We should keep it up.
