Notice to Mariners: Wooden Boat Festival

Mariners are advised that there will be two Parades of Sail during the Wooden Boat Festival which will take place as follows:

1. On Friday, 6 February vessels will assemble off John Garrow Light (Lat 42 degrees 54.9’ South, Long 147 degrees 21.99’ East) at 12.00 pm and sail to Sullivan’s Cove, completing the sail past around 1.30 pm.

2. On Monday, 9 February vessels will assemble off Sullivan’s Cove at 3.00 pm, sail to a point south of the Tasman Bridge and return to Sullivan’s Cove around 4.30 pm.

Mariners and others are advised that, under the provision of Regulation 74 of the Marine and Safety (Pilotage and Navigation) Regulations 2007, a fifty (50) metre “Prohibited Area” has been declared around registered vessels taking part in the event which will be in force throughout the parades of sail. All craft not taking part in the events must stay outside the prohibited area which will be monitored and patrolled by support craft. Mariners are required to obey directions from event officials.
