The two Brians, Pain and Marriot, steered Nancy into dock at Kettering on Wednesday afternoon, having had a relatively uneventful trip from Port Huon. Uneventful was good: this was the first stress test for Nancy's new electric controller and motor. In 1.5 metre swell and 20 knot cross winds before the Gordon corner she was uncomfortable but manageable: strong headwinds at sea might be more problematic. With a generator backup there was no problem with overstressing the batteries, but she will still need an overnight charge up.
And Brian Marriot's coffee machine functioned perfectly the whole way: the tipping factor in declaring the trip a success. Next stop Hobart.
