An order to 'brail the mainsail' is not something you would hear too often (or ever) on a modern yacht, but was common enough and perfectly sensible on boats such as our Monty.  Now that she has 'one of several small ropes attached to the leech of a sail for drawing the sail in or up' we can 'gather in the sail with brails'.  Thanks to Roger Sly for sorting us out.  And thanks also to Roger for setting up extra blocks for the jib sheets, and for a new system for sheeting the mainsail.  It should all be tested out by the Saturday rowing group that John Young has organised, and then by the cadets who will be coming down on the 4th and 10th of next month.

As well as all this Roger brought down a box of left over whaler goodies from the cadet unit, including a spare rudder.  The LBT has many good friends, and Roger is certainly one of them.
