Mapping the lower Huon River

Roy Cordiner brought some beautiful maps into the shed the other day which should be of great interest to anybody who has run up on a Huon mudbank (who hasn't).  He installed a depth sounder and a GPS on his pulling boat and crisscrossed the river to take a tight mesh of soundings from the northern tip of South Egg Island to Port Huon.  The secrets of the maze of channels and shallows is revealed.  Thank you Roy:  he hopes to sell these maps as booklets for less than $30, and we will be queueing up.

Don't forget that Doug Emery has produced an aid to navigating from Port Huon to Franklin: see http://www.setech-it.com.au/huon-river-navigation.html
