Deb Van Velsen writes: We'd love to please hear from people who'd like to join in on this day, to see if we have enough support to run it this year. For
quite a few years now, the LBT has hosted a visit from the Hazara
community in Hobart. It's a really enjoyable day try out rowing a skiff
or grebe, and can go on short Nancy cruises too. The community brings a
wonderfully delicious picnic to share. Last time there was almost 70
people, lots of laughter, and queues to have a go in every different
type of boat! The visit also is an opportunity to chat, clock up a few kilometres for their driving licences, and enjoy being in the Huon. * Skiffs - aim to have 2 teams of two people to take turns taking crews out. * Just one person per grebe is needed as a cox to accompany a crew. *
Help is needed around the shed for general welcoming, pointing out
where things are, that chairs can be taken outside, fitting life jackets
on kids, corralling crews, etc. * Martin and Deb will take out the Nancy, but other skippers and crew are also welcome. Usually starts about 10 to 10:30am, and finishes by about 1 or 2pm. Everyone is welcome to come for the all or part of the time. If you want, bring a plate or excess garden produce to share. It is dependent on good weather. If we could please get expressions of interest by Monday 19th May (email debvanv66@gmail.com) |
