Many LBT members will be aware that in 2018 the Huon Valley Council won a grant of $750k from the State Government to improve the Franklin Waterfront. There was a report in this column on a recent meeting with council to discuss this initiative (https://ishr.site/yDxB) and on Monday 17th of February their was a follow up meeting. The LBT was represented by David Pittaway and Richard Forster. We again emphasised that our priority was access to the water, that the LBT had a number of pontoons ready for deployment, and that any way that council could help with this would be appreciated. See pics which were presented to council below. As can be seen in the first diagram there are many possible pontoon locations identified, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, and we certainly do not expect all of them all to be utilised. The 'red' rectangles show where pontoons might go, the green rectangles the location of supporting onshore structures. The numbers on this diagram represent the approximate order of importance we place on each location. The boardwalk identified in the second diagram would serve to give improved access for boats to the sheltered corner next to the Evaporator sheds. |
