Tess Hallinan writes: Keep track of the build over on the Bendigo Skiff website 'Are you
interested in taking part in a community boat building project? The
Bendigo Bank has generously provided a grant for building a St Ayles
skiff at The Living Boat Trust, 3337 Huon Highway, in Franklin. It is
envisaged that there would be two crews working a session a week,
probably from ten to two o’clock on two days yet to be decided, with
possibly the occasional weekend session for those unable to make it
during the week. The Ian Outred designed St Ayles skiff, like the ones
made by both the Cygnet community and Franklin’s Women on Water, comes
as a standard kit. It should take four to five months to complete. When
finished, the coastal rowing vessel will take a crew of five to row.
If not interested in the actual boat building itself, feel free to
register your interest for the rowing sessions that will follow the
skiff’s completion. The number of volunteers has to necessarily be limited but there will be opportunities for people of all skill levels. If you would like to be part of this exciting Bendigo Bank community boat building project, please leave your details on landline: 62950278, mobile: 0425703326 or email: bendigobankskiffbuild@skymesh.com.au Your communication should be acknowledged with 24 hours.' |
