Living Boat Trust members traveled down to Dover to explore Port Esperance on board the St Ayles Skiff Freyja, which is on loan to the Dover community who are constructing their own Skiff. Freyja is available for use in Dover during their build for “Come and Try” days. Freyja can be rowed or sailed easily which is what the LBT group reinforced this week with explorations around the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and Port Esperance. A lunch stop after tying up in the crystal-clear waters of Hope Island, was followed by a quick sail back to shore with strengthening winds. Thanks to members of the Port Esperance Yacht Club who coordinated the collection of oars and fittings. The Living Boat Trust in Franklin is looking forward to the launch of the first Dover St Ayles Skiff and to sharing many journeys in the future. A new St Ayles Skiff women’s row/sail group is starting on Thursdays at 2 in Franklin for anyone interested, contact Jane 0400 717140.
