Long history (see link below to Council documents)….but the Huon Valley Council has this week opened a 4 week consultation period with the Franklin community and camping ground stakeholders to determine the level of support for an approved Recreational Vehicle site to be developed on Crown Land leased by Council land on the foreshore at Franklin. At the same time, Council is also consulting about the future of RV camping at Shipwrights Point. The Council is seeking community views as to whether or not the sites should be used for RVs and if so what type of RV site the community would like to see on the site. If the outcome of this consultation is in support of an RV Park on the land then a proposed model will be considered. If the outcome of this consultation is not in support of an RV Park on the land then use of the land at any time for RV camping will cease and no longer be permitted as it is not approved under the Council’s Planning Scheme. For more detailed information, Council has a discussion papers available on their website, plus surveys for community members to complete. Also, from this Friday 4 May until Friday 25 May, Council will have information on display at the Palais Theatre – available to view on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm. Please make your voice heard – this initial community consultation period ends on 28 May.
