Mike Dredge has kindly offered to run this course. Mike writes: 'participants will need a couple of net needles –
about 12- 15 cm and a cob of mending twine, about 9-12 ply. Net needles
are available from a range of sites on the Web at about $6 for a set of
half a dozen (I have
no idea of quality) and there are also a wide range of net repair
twines on offer on the Web. One site has 50 gm cobs of Kuralon for
about $6, but they seem to have only 18 ply at the moment, which might
be a bit heavy for what we’ll be doing. Participants
also will need to bring a good twine cutting shears or scissors, or a
short bladed sharp knife. I’d hope we could get through basic knotting
techniques and repairs, patches and hanging nets. Depending on how well
we progress and how keen people are, we might have a look at taper cuts
and sewing tapers.' A quick scout online reveals needles at https://www.hookedonline.com.au/accessories/tools/net-needles/ and twine at https://www.hookedonline.com.au/50gm-spool-of-seahorse-kuralon-net-twine-white-net , and there are sure to be lots of other places. Pic from Wikipedia |
