'As some members may already know, the LBT has been successful in obtaining a grant from the Huon Valley Community Bank Grants programme to build another St Ayles skiff.
A small group of members attended the presentation at the Bendigo Bank boardroom in Huonville of Friday evening. The Trust was one of nine recipients to be chosen from a field of over sixteen applications.
The grant of $5,500.00 will cover the purchase of a kit, glues, paint and much of the timber for the new skiff.
This project is a" community" build, similar to Cygnet's and will involve the LBT, WOW and the wider community. A press release will appear this week in the Huon News and Cygnet classifieds calling for expressions of interest from any one wishing to be involved. Tess Hallinan is co-ordinating the expressions of interest and she may be contacted on 62950278 or 0425703326 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We expect the the project to be run over two days each week, days yet to be decided. In the coming weeks we will hold an information night for anyone who wants to be involved, the project is open to everyone, regardless of woodworking/boatbuilding experience. Pete Heading has agreed to supervise the build, which is fantastic. Thank you Pete!
With organisation well advanced, and excitement growing for the St Ayles Skiff regatta next February, the new skiff will a great addition to Imagine.
A special thank you to Annette Cauchi, who did all the hard work in putting together such a great grant submission.'
