Autumn: a great time to be on the river

The early morning fog (the ‘Judberry Jerry') rolls down the river at pace, driven by a land breeze to whisk our boats along.  John Young and crew took advantage of this to get the Monty well along on her way  to Dover for the Port Esperance Regatta.  Once the fog lifts the days are warm and still, wonderful for people but not so for sailing. It’s good to be able to take an (ahem) tow from somebody like Peter Laidlaw in ‘Theona’, until the sea breeze kicks in in the afternoon.
