Day 58

From Graham Rankin:

'Another milestone day today! The first clear coat of brightwork has been applied to the gun whales, sheer strake, thwarts, cox and bow seat. After a final, light sand, a wipe with a damp rag (water only) the water based epoxy varnish was applied to a chorus of oohs and aahs.  This Aqua Cote system looks very promising, having much less of the nasty stuff than traditional systems and much more user friendly.

Two milestones, really. Today was the last session for our Pete Heading, who is sailing north for a warmer winter.  From all of us, a big thank you. You have been a brilliant teacher and mentor, you didn't just show us what to do, you explained why it was done that way and we have all learnt so much. You set high standards and this is reflected in a beautiful boat we can all be proud of. It's a shame you won't be here for the launch, think of us while you are enjoying a glass of red in warmer climes, we look forward to your return sometime in the spring. We wish you fair winds and a smooth passage.'
